Points of attention for all competitors

• Written instructions always have priority on what you see in the screenshots in the tasks.
• Colours can be indicated as color name, eg dark blue, in RGB, eg 255-0-0, or hexadecimal, eg #FF0000. Feel free to choose what suits you best.
• Install and use by preference a PDF-printer driver (like PDFCreator) so you can display graphic elements outside the margins up to the page borders.
• Install at home the fonts Straczynski, IDAutomatcionHC39M free version and Avalon. You will need them during the competition.

• The evaluation of the last task will be on site, at the end of the competition. Participants who performed the last task simply remain seated at the end of the competition without using their computer any further and wait for inspection by a jury member.
• The competition is tailored to recent versions of Microsoft Word. Competition documents are delivered in RTF and/or DOCX format. Data are delivered in XLSX (Excel) or CSV format .
• All needed documents/files will be delivered as one ZIP-file. You can check if you can handle and extract ZIP-files with this sample file: samsonite.zip

Basic and advanced section

The competition is split into a basic section (80 % of the points) and an advanced section (20 % of the points).

You can compare the basic section with the total competition in the past years. Extra skills that you need in the advanced section might be:

• the merging of variable external graphic files into documents;
• the automation of simple repetitive tasks within a document by macros or scripts.

Evaluation

Final points are the greater of the following two calculations:

• sum of earned points of the basic and advanced sections;
• the earned points of the basic section multiplied by 1,25, unless this calculated result would be greater than 80; in that case, the final score is capped at 80 plus the smallest value either the excess calculated value of the basic section or the earned points of the advance section.

The final score will never be higher than the score in % of the basic section.
